Actress Rashmika Mandanna has issued a powerful statement on X, voicing deep concern over the growing misuse of Artificial Intelligence to create obscene and fabricated content targeting women. Her remarks have reignited nationwide discussions on digital safety, deepfake exploitation, and the urgent need for stronger accountability in India’s online ecosystem.
Opening with the striking line, “When truth can be manufactured, discernment becomes our greatest defence,” Rashmika warned that AI—despite being a tool for innovation and progress—is increasingly being twisted into a weapon to harass, objectify, and defame women. She described this disturbing trend as a reflection of a “deep moral decline” among certain sections of society.
“The Internet Is No Longer a Mirror of Truth”
Rashmika highlighted how the internet has transformed into a space where manipulated visuals can be fabricated and circulated with alarming ease. With deepfakes becoming more convincing than ever, she urged people to remain vigilant and informed.
She stressed that misinformation spreads fast and can cause irreversible damage, stating that today’s digital world has become “a canvas where anything can be fabricated.”
A Call for Responsibility and Reform
The actress appealed for the ethical use of AI, urging society to choose responsibility over recklessness: “Let us rise above misuse and use AI to build a more dignified and progressive society.”
In a decisive move, she tagged @Cyberdost, the official cyber safety handle of the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C), signalling the need for stronger action, awareness campaigns, and efficient reporting mechanisms to combat AI-enabled cybercrimes.
Demand for Strict Punishment
Ending her statement with a firm stand, Rashmika wrote: “If people cannot act like humans, then strict & unforgiving punishment must be served to them.”
Nationwide Reaction
Her post has triggered widespread debate, drawing support from fans, digital rights advocates, cybersecurity experts, and public figures. Many have echoed her call for tighter laws, faster enforcement, and stringent measures to curb deepfake creators and online offenders.
Rashmika’s bold stand has once again brought the spotlight onto the urgent need for robust digital safety frameworks, especially to protect women from evolving forms of cyber abuse.
