The buzz surrounding Peddi continues to reach new heights following the launch of its powerful trailer, which has emerged as one of the biggest talking points in Indian cinema this year. Starring Ram Charan in the lead role and directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the pan-India sports drama promises a spectacular journey from rural playgrounds to international sporting arenas.
Adding another interesting chapter to the film’s promotional campaign, Ram Charan recently recalled his interaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and revealed that the Prime Minister had shown keen interest in the film’s core theme of rural empowerment.
Speaking about the meeting, Ram Charan said that many South Indian films today are deeply connected to India’s culture and grassroots. He emphasized that stories set in villages and small towns often bring out extraordinary talent and inspiring narratives.
“The films we are making in the South today are deeply rooted in our culture and soil. They are not city-based but set in villages and towns. Our archery team has many tribal players because they naturally possess that talent. It’s beautiful when such talent from villages gets recognised,” Ram Charan shared.

The actor further revealed details of his conversation with Prime Minister Modi during a previous meeting in Delhi.
“The last time I met our Honorable Prime Minister Modi ji in Delhi, he asked me what Peddi was about. I told him it’s about an evolved India and empowering our villages. Modi ji then shared a story from West Bengal, where decades ago a footballer from a small village represented India, and today more than 85 people from that same village play football,” Ram Charan recalled.
The makers recently organized a grand musical event for Peddi in Bhopal on May 23, featuring the film’s star-studded cast, including Janhvi Kapoor, Shiva Rajkumar, Ravi Kishan, Divyendu Sharma, and Jagapathi Babu. Director Buchi Babu Sana and Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman also attended the event, which further amplified excitement surrounding the film.

One of the most intriguing aspects of Peddi is Ram Charan’s role as a crossover athlete. Drawing parallels with sporting legends such as MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar, the film explores the journey of an athlete whose path transcends a single sport, adding a unique dimension to the narrative.
Written and directed by Buchi Babu Sana, Peddi features a powerful ensemble cast including Ram Charan, Janhvi Kapoor, Shiva Rajkumar, Divyendu Sharma, and Jagapathi Babu. The film is produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru under Vriddhi Cinemas in association with Mythri Movie Makers, Sukumar Writings, and IVY Entertainment.
The film boasts a strong technical team with music by A.R. Rahman, cinematography by R. Rathnavelu, production design by Avinash Kolla, editing by Navin Nooli, and executive production by V.Y. Praveen Kumar.
With its inspiring sports backdrop, rural empowerment theme, and massive scale, Peddi has positioned itself as one of the most anticipated releases of the year. The film is set for worldwide premieres on June 3, 2026, ahead of its grand theatrical release on June 4, 2026.
