Mega Power Star Ram Charan’s much-awaited rural action drama Peddi is gearing up for a grand worldwide release on June 4. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the film has already generated massive buzz with its chartbuster songs and powerful trailer.
Speaking about the film during a recent media interaction, versatile actor Jagapathi Babu opened up about his emotionally intense role ‘Appalasuri’, calling it one of the finest performances of his career.
Jagapathi Babu revealed that the entire credit for the unique look and depth of the character goes to director Buchi Babu Sana. He said the filmmaker had a crystal-clear vision for the role and worked closely with National Award-winning makeup artist Rashid to create the striking appearance of Appalasuri.
“I felt the magic of the character the moment I wore the getup for the first time. In the entire film, audiences will not see Jagapathi Babu – they will only see Appalasuri,” he said confidently.
The actor further shared that among all the memorable roles he has played after Legend, Appalasuri stands at the top.
“Out of all the films I’ve done over the years, only a few roles stay close to my heart. Appalasuri from Peddi will remain number one among them,” he stated.
Jagapathi Babu also praised Ram Charan and described his bond with the actor as extremely warm and affectionate. He revealed that the emotional connection between their characters would become one of the major highlights of the film.

“There is a beautiful emotional bonding between my character and Ram Charan’s role. It is not just another routine relationship written for cinema,” he explained.
The actor also opened up about the challenges he faced while dubbing for the role. According to him, Appalasuri’s dialect and emotional intensity demanded extraordinary effort.
“Some days I spent hours just dubbing two dialogues. The character had a unique voice and rhythm. I wanted audiences to hear only Appalasuri while watching those scenes,” he said.
Jagapathi Babu heaped praise on director Buchi Babu Sana and filmmaker Sukumar, calling both of them directors with exceptional clarity and emotional depth.
He also appreciated Ram Charan’s dedication toward the film, revealing that the actor performed physically demanding sequences without using body doubles.
“Charan worked incredibly hard for this movie. He suffered injuries and even bled during action scenes, but still performed everything himself. From Rangasthalam till now, he has continued to grow tremendously as an actor,” Jagapathi Babu noted.
The actor further revealed that the prosthetic makeup process itself was physically demanding, often taking nearly three hours daily. Despite the challenges, he said every bit of effort felt worthwhile because of the strength of the character.
Jagapathi Babu also praised music composer A. R. Rahman, saying the songs themselves have already taken the film’s excitement to another level.
Produced on a grand scale by Venkata Satish Kilaru under Vriddhi Cinemas, with Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings presenting the project, Peddi is currently one of the most anticipated Telugu releases of the year.
