Actor Vijay Sethupathi has given a clarification regarding the controversy spreading online about his upcoming film with director Puri Jagannadh. Addressing the objections some netizens raised due to Puri Jagannadh’s recent failures, Vijay Sethupathi stated that he doesn’t judge directors based on their past work.
“I do not evaluate directors based on what they have done previously. If I like a story, I choose it regardless of the director’s track record. Puri Jagannadh narrated a story that truly impressed me,” he said.
Vijay further added, “This is a high-octane action film, a genre I’ve never tried before. I always aim to explore new subjects, instead of repeating roles I’ve already done. That keeps me growing as an actor.”
The announcement that Vijay Sethupathi would be starring in a film directed by Puri Jagannadh was made a few days ago. Following the announcement, various users online criticized the collaboration due to the director’s string of recent flops. Responding to this, Vijay Sethupathi asserted that good stories are his only criteria when choosing films, not public opinion or a filmmaker’s past.
This statement clarifies Vijay Sethupathi’s stand and shows his intent to focus purely on innovative storytelling, beyond popular criticism.
