Senior actor Mohan Babu has reportedly been found guilty in a cheque bounce case. A Hyderabad court on Tuesday gave the final verdict, sentencing the actor for a jail term of 1 year. Besides, a fine of more than Rs 41 lakh has been imposed.
The case pertains to the year 2010 when Mohan Babu produced a film titled ‘Saleem’ with his son Manchu Vishnu as the hero. He paid its director, YVS Chowdhary, through a cheque. When it bounced, Chowdhary approached the court.
After repeated adjournments, the verdict was finally delivered today.
Meanwhile, Mohan Babu has applied for bail. He has refuted the reports that he is currently in police custody. ”Just heard about the false news propaganda by a few TV networks. Much to their disappointment, I am at my home in Hyderabad,” he said.
Mohan Babu recently joined the YSRCP.
