Chennai: At the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) stage, Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan’s speech moved not just his fans but the entire film fraternity.”I still have three big films left: Thug Life, Indian 3, and Kalki 2898 AD Part 2. After completing all these… I have one desire. I want to make a grand film about the Indian Armed Forces. The Army, Air Force, Navy… their lives, sacrifices, love, family… the whole world should see it. That is my dream,” said Kamal with a trembling voice.
His additional words are now going viral across social media:
“I did Vikram at 66… I’m doing Kalki at 70. Age is no barrier at all. As long as there is passion, cinema will be there. As long as there are fans, I will be there.”Kamal’s love for the Indian armed forces is not new. Patriotism and valour have consistently appeared in his films like Hey Ram, Vishwaroopam, and Indian. Now, he has openly expressed his dream of making a pan-Indian mega film centered on the three armed forces.
Fans have already started imagining and celebrating:
“If Kamal sir comes as a tri-services officer… theatres won’t be able to handle it!”
“Announce this right after Indian 3… the whole country will celebrate!”
With Mani Ratnam, Shankar, and Nag Ashwin, three legendary directors, by his side for the ongoing projects, if Kamal takes up an armed forces film after that, there is no doubt it will make world cinema turn around and take notice.
