The Centre is mooting two grand ideas at a time. One pertains to ration benefits. This one will take the form of ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’. The other one pertains to payment of wages/salaries and it will take the form of ‘One Nation, One Pay Day’.
The Union Food Minister Ramvilas Paswan has been working towards implementing the One Ration Card system throughout the country to benefit migrants. There are 5.35 lakh Fair Price Shops in India. Besides, there are 23 crore cardholders benefiting from various schemes, especially the National Food Security Act.
The Prime Minister is reportedly keen on introducing a uniform pay day system across the country so that labourers will get timely payment of wages/salaries. A legislation might be promulgated to implement it strictly. Also, the idea of uniform minimum wages across all sectors will also be made a reality in due course of time. It’s difficult to implement uniform minimum wages, though.
