There have been income tax raids on leaders of opposition parties including Durai Murugan of the DMK in Tamil Nadu and as the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 is just round the corner it is seen as a revenge tactics of the ruling parties.

In Karnataka raids were conducted on the properties of the JD(S) Minister Puttaraju who is contesting on behalf of the Secular Front in the Mandya constituency. Puttaraju has accused his opposition candidate actress Sumalatha for orchestrating the IT raids with the help of Rajinikanth to influence the ruling BJP leaders. He has cited that Sumalatha's husband the late actor Ambareesh was a very close friend of Rajini.

The Superstar has however distanced himself from the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and is gearing upto start shooting his 166th film from April 10th. The film produced by Lyca Productions has Nayanthara as the female lead and music score by Anirudh.
