Legendary actor and prominent political figure Kamal Haasan, who is the founder of the political party Makkal Needhi Maiam, has once again demonstrated his commitment to social causes. He has reportedly made a generous donation to the Kerala Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund towards the recent devastating landslides in Wayanad.
According to sources, Kamal Haasan contributed ₹25 lakhs to aid in the rescue and rehabilitation efforts following what has been described as the deadliest landslide in Kerala's history. This tragedy, triggered by heavy rainfall on July 30th, has claimed 308 lives so far, with hundreds more still missing or injured. In response, the state has now deployed drone-based radar technology to search for survivors.
Kamal Haasan's donation is particularly significant given his close relationship with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, with whom he has shared a strong bond and met on several occasions. His compassionate gesture has resonated deeply, as the entire country grapples with the aftermath of this calamity.
