Did Superstar Rajinikanth fell ill while shooting for ‘Coolie’? - Lokesh Kanagaraj explains

Superstar Rajinikanth was admitted to Apollo Hospitals earlier this week for a scheduled medical procedure, not an emergency as rumours suggested. The hospital clarified that the actor underwent an elective procedure and was discharged the following day. However, speculation quickly spread that Rajinikanth fell ill due to the physically demanding nature of his role in the upcoming film 'Coolie'.

Addressing these rumours, 'Coolie' director Lokesh Kanagaraj expressed his frustration and set the record straight in a media interaction. He explained, "When the 'Coolie' shooting began, Rajinikanth informed me that he had a scheduled medical treatment on September 30th. That's why we completed shooting his scenes by September 28th and sent him off. His hospitalization was well-planned in advance.

After his hospitalization, we were shocked by the many speculations on YouTube and social media claiming that Rajinikanth fell ill while shooting. Rajini Sir's health is more important to us than the film. If Rajinikanth had suddenly fallen ill during the shoot, our entire team would have been at the hospital. However, since we already knew he would be admitted, we continued with our shoot as planned.

A company like Sun Pictures would immediately halt shooting if Superstar had faced any issues but they allowed the shoot to continue because we were aware of his scheduled medical procedure. We knew about this hospital visit 40 days in advance, so it was very disheartening to see the speculations surrounding Rajinikanth in the media. I hope that the media informs this truth to the audience rather than the rumours."
