The ongoing Ram Rajya Rath Yatra, taken up by Sree Ramaa Dasa Mission Universal Society, has come in for criticism from the opposition DMK in Tamil Nadu. The party, along with several other political outfits, has been demanding that the Yatra be stopped from entering Tamil Nadu. However, the AIADMK government has gone ahead with permitting the Yatra on the grounds that not a single instance of violence has been reported in the five states which it has traversed.
However, actor-politician Kamal Haasan has hit out at the government. As per him, it's nothing but pandering to the BJP. "Voices for social harmony being throttled with 144 and arrests. Procession with divisive political agenda allowed with protection. The Tamil Nadu government, dancing to someone else's tune, is neither reflecting people's opinion nor being empathetic to students writing their board exams," he tweeted out on Tuesday.
Notably, many including Kamal seem to believe that the Yatra has been organized by Vishwa Hindu Parishad. It's not.
