Drug Bust in Chennai: 8 Arrested, Including an Actress

The Anti-Drug Intelligence Unit (ANIU) received a secret tip-off regarding drug peddling in the Valasaravakkam area of Chennai. Following this, a special team led by Inspector Johnny Chellappa conducted intensive surveillance.

The investigation began with the apprehension of Vigneshwaran (33) from Nesapakkam. During questioning, he revealed that he had purchased the drugs from Venkatesh Kumar (31), a resident of Kovur near Porur. Posing as customers, the police contacted Venkatesh Kumar and lured him to Valasaravakkam.

When he arrived in his car, the police surrounded the vehicle and arrested him along with an actress and other associates. A total of 8 individuals have been arrested in connection with this case: Anju Krishna (30): An actress who played the lead role in the Tamil film Vellimalai and appeared in some Malayalam films.Vinci Nivetha (26): An assistant director in the Tamil film industry and a friend of the actress.Venkatesh Kumar (31) Karthik Raja (31) Yashwanth (25) Sriram (33) Alvipaksha (27)Vigneshwaran (33) .

The police seized drugs and equipment worth crores of rupees from the arrested individuals.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the gang sourced bulk quantities of drugs from Kerala and Bengaluru. They were allegedly operating a secret distribution network catering to.

Anju Krishna, who hails from Pazhayannur village in the Thrissur district of Kerala, started her career as a model in Kochi before moving to Chennai to pursue acting. She played the female lead in the 2023 Tamil film Vellimalai and has acted in Malayalam films such as Joju George’s Aaro.

According to reports, the actress stated in her confession that she turned to drug peddling to make “easy money” as film opportunities had dwindled.
