Gaayapadda Simham Announced: Tharun Bhascker Headlines a Witty Political Satire

Actor Tharun Bhascker continues to strengthen his reputation for unconventional cinema, and his next project, Gaayapadda Simham, promises to be yet another refreshingly offbeat entertainer. The film marks his collaboration with writer-director Kasyap Sreenivas, known for his distinctive storytelling sensibilities.

Presented by Pavan Sadineni, who is currently directing Dulquer Salmaan’s Aakasamlo Oka Tara, the film is produced by Kalyana Chakravarthy Manthina, Bhanu Kiran Pratapa, Vijay Krishna Lingamaneni, and Umesh Bansal under the banners of Saptaswa Media Works, POV Stories, and Zee Studios.

The makers officially unveiled the film’s title today through a visually arresting and cleverly designed poster. Gaayapadda Simham immediately teases its genre and tone with bold red-and-white American-inspired artwork. A charging aircraft, set against stars and vertical stripes reminiscent of the US flag, dominates the frame, while the rugged, textured finish evokes the feel of a passport stamp — hinting at an adventurous, irreverent, and satirical narrative.

Adding to the intrigue are several quirky visual elements: a finely detailed revolver, a caricature bearing a strong resemblance to former US President Donald Trump, and a nostalgic NATARAJA compass box. Together, these details suggest a heady mix of political satire, crime drama, and offbeat humour. The cheeky tagline — “Don’t Laugh! It’s a Serious Matter!” — further underlines the film’s tongue-in-cheek approach.

Along with the title reveal, the makers confirmed that the trailer will be released on February 9, raising expectations among cinephiles eager to see what kind of satirical ride the film has in store.

The film stars Faria Abdullah and Maanasa Choudhary as the female leads. Supporting roles are played by Vishnu Oi, Harshavardhan, and veteran actor Subhalekha Sudhakar.

On the technical front, cinematography is handled by Vidya Sagar Chinta, while music is composed by Sweekar Agasthi. Editing duties are taken care of by Viplav Nyshadam, with production design by Chandrika Gorrepati. The story is penned by Surya Prakash Jyosula.

The shooting of Gaayapadda Simham is nearly wrapped up, with only one song left to be filmed. With its intriguing title, bold poster, and a promising creative team, the film is shaping up to be one of the most interesting Telugu releases to watch out for this year.
