Veteran actor Jagapathi Babu, who previously delivered a powerful and menacing performance in Rangasthalam, is once again set to leave a strong impression in Ram Charan’s upcoming film Peddi. The makers of the film on Monday unveiled Jagapathi Babu’s first-look poster, instantly drawing attention for the actor’s dramatic transformation.
In the newly released poster, Jagapathi Babu is almost unrecognisable as Appalasoori. Sporting dishevelled hair, thick spectacles, and a torn, weather-beaten shirt, he appears as an ageing man burdened by years of hardship, suffering, and poverty. The raw and rugged appearance marks a completely new avatar for the seasoned actor, highlighting his continued willingness to experiment with challenging roles.
While the character’s name has been revealed, the makers have chosen to keep further details about Appalasoori’s role and significance in the story tightly under wraps, adding to the intrigue surrounding the film.
Peddi is positioned as a sports action drama set against the rustic backdrop of the Uttarandhra region. Ram Charan plays the titular role, with the film boasting a strong supporting cast that includes Boman Irani, Shiva Rajkumar, and Divyendu in pivotal roles. Janhvi Kapoor stars as the female lead.
The film is directed by Buchi Babu Sana and features music composed by Academy Award–winning composer A. R. Rahman. With its ambitious scale, strong performances, and compelling setting, Peddi is gearing up for a grand theatrical release on March 27, 2026.
