“Shankardada laga, manam oka London dada,” says Dhanush’s character towards the end of the riveting trailer for ‘Jagame Thandhiram’, which will start streaming on Netflix in both Telugu and Tamil from June 18. The direct-to-streamer release is a gangster actioner helmed by Karthik Subbaraj.
Dhanush plays a without-a-care-in-the-world gangster in this semi-comedy, which is set in Tamil Nadu’s Madurai. Peter (James Cosmo), a gangster based in London, enlists him for a purpose. Peter wants to defeat Sivadoss (Joseph ‘Joju’ George), yet another gangster, at his own game. Throw in illegal weapons and gold business into the mix, and you have a heady cocktail.
The director has staged the theme of ‘Jagame Thandhiram’ as a fight for what you can truly call home seen from the perspectives of three different characters.
Aishwarya Lekshmi, Kalaiyarasan, Joju George and others also feature in this promising flick. Dhanush wanted the film to hit the screens but the pandemic has spoiled the plans of the producer.
Santhosh Narayanan’s composition seems to be modish, while Shreyaas Krishna’s cinematography looks promising. T Santanam and Vinoth Rajkumar (UK) have taken care of production design. Stunts are by Dinesh Subbarayan, while the choreography is by M Sherif and Baba Baskar.
