As we all know, Superstar Rajinikanth is teamed up with Sun Pictures and director Lokesh Kanagaraj for the high-octane action entertainer, 'Coolie'. The film's title was unveiled in a stunning teaser last month. Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja has sent a legal notice to the movie team recently regarding the title teaser.
'Coolie' title teaser features the song 'D.I.S.C.O', a remix version of the popular song 'Vaa Vaa Pakkam Vaa' from Superstar Rajinikanth's 1983 film 'Thangamagan'. The original song was composed by Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja, who is hailed as the epitome of Tamil film music. The veteran composer's legal team issued a notice to Sun Pictures for using the old song without Raja's approval.
The statement says that the makers should get a NOC from Ilaiyaraaja by paying royalty or remove the song from the promo. Ilaiyaraaja's side will proceed legally if the production house fails to take either of the steps. This has caused a great stir in the film industry. The 'Coolie' team is yet to react/comment on this issue. We have to wait for Sun Pictures' move.
