Last week, in a bloody workplace accident, a 21-year-old woman working in a line worker’s capacity at the Grovetown plant of Club Car died. Alyssa Drinkard died at the age of 21 while on duty at Club Car's Grovetown plant.

Drinkard, 22, accidentally let go of her AirPod while trying to catch it beneath a conveyor inside the plant at about 9:45 p.m. Friday. In the process of getting the small wireless earbud back, she got caught on the moving chain of the machine. Fae’Zsha Smith, her colleague, saw the accident and called out as the moving chain caught Drinkard.

Emergency responders were called to the scene and worked further in order to get Drinkard out of the machinery all the way before she could be transported to the hospital. The hospital pronounced her dead.

Club Car Establishments, which fabricates golf carts and other cars, issued a statement to confirm the happening. They sent condolences to Drinkard's family and friends and assured them that their company would offer full assistance to all the authorities involved in working the case.

Smith became only too addled by the trauma to recall anything except that the absolutely brilliant colleague was loved by one and all for her spirited nature—approachable. Co-workers from Drinkard's hall could not refrain from an addled feeling that came over them upon learning of the sudden loss; several of them tried, rather futilely, to come up with anything.

The incident made Smith herself re-evaluate the issue of safety in the workplace, which put the issue in question. Investigations have continued. Augusta-based industry leader Club Car, the biggest name in the industry, has received applause for its commitment to safety, allowing decades to pass without a preventable accident, but the untimely loss of 35-year-old Alyssa Drinkyard should serve as a reminder.
