‘Geetha Govindam’ has reportedly earned a distributor share of more than Rs. 60 Cr as of the end of Sunday. About Rs. 17.70 Cr and Rs. 6.10 Cr have come from Nizam and Ceded, respectively. On the back of the rom-com doing well in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, it has made more than Rs. 7 Cr in India’s non-Telugu markets. In the US, its gross now stands at USD 2.3 million.
The Vijay Deverakonda-starrer will most likely make another Rs. 5 Cr before its theatrical run ends.
The Parusuram directorial never faced any competition from the about 8 films that have hit the screens since its release on I-Day. From ‘Neevevaro’ to ‘Paper Boy’, they all had to bite the dust partly because of their poor content and partly because of the strength of ‘Geetha Govindam’.
Its dream run will be over by the time ‘Care Of Kancharapalem’, ‘Silly Fellows’, and ‘Manu’ arrive on Sept 7.
