Kamal Haasan Urges Cancellation of Entertainment Tax in Tamil Nadu

The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) organized an entertainment industry conference in Chennai’s Guindy area yesterday. The event was presided over by Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, with actor Kamal Haasan attending as the special guest.

During his speech, Kamal Haasan highlighted the financial difficulties faced by the film industry due to taxes like the central government’s GST and the state’s entertainment tax. He urged the Tamil Nadu government to consider removing the entertainment tax to provide relief to the struggling Tamil film industry.

Responding to this request, Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin assured that he would bring the matter to the attention of the Chief Minister for review. Additionally, he announced that the Tamil Nadu government is planning to establish a residential colony for film artists on 90 acres of land in Paiyanur.

Kamal Haasan expressed gratitude on behalf of the Tamil film industry for these announcements.
