The Malayalam film industry has recently been shocked by allegations of sexual harassment on actresses, resulting in legal action being taken against several prominent actors and directors. Following the Hema Committee Report, the Malayalam Actors' Association (AMMA) has been dissolved, which led to the resignation of all executives, including the association’s president, Mohanlal.
Actress Parvathy, known for her roles in films like 'Maryan' and 'Thangalaan,' shared her thoughts on the dissolution of AMMA and Mohanlal’s resignation. “I realized how cowardly those in charge of the association were. It was shocking to see the executives of such a significant organization like the Malayalam Actors' Association resign altogether and disband the association,” Parvathy remarked.
She continued, “The leaders of the association chose to resign because they couldn't respond to the allegations brought forth by the Hema Committee. I know how those within AMMA operate. Actresses like me do not have the right to speak about our needs there. If we want this situation to change, we need better leadership. In the future, we should elect a good leader instead of cowards like Mohanlal."
Parvathy's statements have sparked a huge controversy and debate within the Malayalam film industry and beyond, given that Mohanlal is a legendary actor in Mollywood. Her strong comments highlight the need for stronger leadership and accountability in the Malayalam film industry.
