Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has reacted to the 2G verdict by stating that he was thankful to the Almighty for the ‘end’ to the ‘evil campaign’ against the erstwhile Congerss-led UPA Govt. at the Centre with regard to the 2G scam.
Worth Rs.1.76 lakh crores, Justsice O.P. Saini of a special Court in Delhi absolved the DMK and the Congress of the scam, stating lack of evidence by the prosecution to release DMK’s Raja and Kanimozhi. Raja, who was the Union Telecom Minister during the Congress-led UPA Govt.’s regime, drew flak earlier from his political opponents and critics for committing huge corruption.
DMK and Congress leaders have wholeheartedly welcomed the verdict of the special Court. Speaking to newsmen in the national capital, Manmohan Singh (during whose tenure as Prime Minister the scam broke out) said that he was highly relieved as the verdict has brought to an end an ‘evil campaign’ spread by the detractors of Congress party. “I welcome the verdict and salute the judiciary,” he added.
