In the news again, tech entrepreneur Elon Musk hinted at a possible partnership with Samsung to create a "X Phone." He also said he didn't like how Apple used OpenAI's ChatGPT in its products.
Musk said, "it is not out of the question," in response to rumors regarding a Samsung-made "X Phone" customized for his X app, an open-source operating system, and Starlink connection.
Musk's remarks come after his previous attack on Apple for integrating ChatGPT from OpenAI into iOS 18, which he dubbed a "security violation." He expressed his worries about the X platform, saying that "Apple devices will be banned at my companies," if Apple incorporates OpenAI at the operating system level, calling it an "unacceptable security violation."
Musk co-founded OpenAI, but he has publicly criticized the business, questioning Apple's capacity to safeguard customer data shared with OpenAI. "Apple has no clue what's truly going on after they send your data over to OpenAI," he said. " "They're selling you down the river," he said, challenging Apple's AI skills and calling it "patently absurd" that the company depends on OpenAI to provide AI capabilities while maintaining security and privacy.
Musk's position highlights his continuous mistrust of Apple's handling of AI and data security; he calls for more robust protections and challenges reliance on outside AI companies.
