Director A.S. Ravi Kumar Chowdary Passes Away

Noted Telugu film director A.S. Ravi Kumar Chowdary, best known for the 2014 romantic drama Pilla Nuvvu Leni Jeevitham, passed away on Tuesday night due to a heart attack. His sudden demise has left the Telugu film industry in shock.

Ravi Kumar Chowdary began his directorial career with the 2004 action drama Yagnam, starring Gopichand, which became a surprise box-office success and earned him recognition. He later worked with Nandamuri Balakrishna for Veerabhadra, though the film failed to strike a chord with audiences.

He went on to direct films like Aatadista (with Nithiin) and Em Pillo Em Pillado (with Tanish), but the lukewarm response to these projects affected the momentum of his career.

His notable comeback came in 2014 with Pilla Nuvvu Leni Jeevitham, featuring Sai Dharam Tej, which garnered a positive response and moderate commercial success. Despite this, his subsequent projects — including Soukyam and Tiragabadara Saami — failed to make an impact.

The Telugu Film Directors Association and several prominent film personalities have extended their condolences, remembering him as a passionate filmmaker and a humble individual. Social media has seen an outpouring of grief, with fans and colleagues sharing their memories and tributes.

Ravi Kumar Chowdary’s contributions to Telugu cinema, especially his early work, will be remembered by fans and peers alike.
