Veteran Malayalam director Antony Basker Raj aka AB Raj passed away yesterday due to age related ailments. The 95 years old director is the father of famous Tamil character artist Saranya Ponnvanan.

AB Baskar has directed several Sinhala movies and later started working in the Malayalam film industry directing more than 60 movies in Malayalam besides few Tamil movies like Thulli Odum Pullimaan and Kai Neraya Kasu. He was also an Assistant Director in the classic Hollywood movie The Bridge on the River Kwai.

AB Raj's has three children namely Jayapal, Manoj and Saranya Ponnvanan. Some of his notable movies include Manase Ninakku Mangalam, Adima Changala, Agni Saram, Avakaasham, Seemantha Puthran, Football Champion, Marunnattil Oru Malayali.
