Director Venkat Prabhu had last directed Chennai 600028 IInd Innings starring Jai, Shiva, Premgi, Vaibhav and Arvind Akash, and the director has completed his next direction venture Party which is a multistarrer waiting for release. The director also produces movies in his Black Ticket Company productions.

Venkat Prabhu's next production venture RK Nagar, a politics backdrop entertainer starring Vaibhav, Sana Althaf, Sampath and Inigo Prabhakar is directed by Saravana Rajan who had debuted with the Jai starrer Vadacurry, and this movie was initially planned to be released in April.

However, the movie which is co-produced by Badri Kasthuri did not release due to elections, and now in an unexpected manner, the movie was released on the popular streaming platform Netflix. This came across as a shock for subscribers as RK Nagar has not been released yet in theatres. Soon after the movie was removed from Netflix, but it has been said that the movie has been pirated already on several websites.
