The anti- Sterlite protests in Tuticorin turned into violence when police opened fire on the protesters. Reportedly 13 people have lost their lives due to this inhumane act. Many social activists, politicians and stars from the film community have been expressing their angst for the same.
One of them was Dhanush. Dhanush was one of the first to state his message in his social pages for the issue. After that he also expressed his sorrow over one of his fan’s demise in the Sterlite killings. Now the actor has taken the issue to international forum as well. How?
We know that Dhanush is in Cannes International Film Festival to promote his ‘The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir’ where delegates from all over the world are present. In a video that has surfaced on the web, we can see Dhanush actually asking the assembled gathering to mourn in silence for those who lost their lives in the protest. This noble act of Dhanush making the issue gain international attention is commendable.
