We already reported to you that the first major controversy of IPL 2022 took place yesterday during the Delhi Capitals vs Rajasthan Royals match in Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. DC was set to chase 223 after RR's mind-blowing batting display. The problem courted during the final over of the match.

Rishabh Pant, the captain of Delhi Capitals, created a scene by asking his batters to abandon the game and come to the dugout. Now, the latest is that Rishabh Pant was fined 100% of his match fees while the pace all-rounder Shardul Thakur was fined 50% of his match fees. DC support staff Pavin Amre, who entered the field and interrupted the game, was fined 100% and also handed a one-match ban.

DC needed 36 off the last 6 balls to seal the game last night and Obed McCoy came to bowl the 20th over. Rovman Powell faced the bowler with Kuldeep Yadav at the non-striker end. Rovman Powell smoked 3 sixes in the first 3 balls of the over. The bowler missed the length and bowled a high full toss in the 3rd ball.

While the on-field umpires Nitin Menon and Nikhil Patwardhan approved it as a legal delivery, the non-striker and batsman argued that it was a no-ball on height. The entire DC dugout was disappointed about the decision and devastated DC skipper Rishabh Pant signalled the batters to stop the play and return to the dugout. He further sent support staff Pravin Amre to argue with the umpire before the game resumed following the drama.

The momentum of the game changed and DC lost by 15 runs. While DC assistant coach stated that their franchise was on the wrong side, Rishabh Pant held his stand that it was an unfair decision. Pant admitted to the Level 2 offence under Article 2.7, Thakur admitted to a Level 2 offence under Article 2.8 and Amre admitted to the Level 2 offence under Article 2.2 for breaching the IPL code of conduct.
