The official updates that have come late this evening show no respite in the COVID 19 spread in Tamil Nadu as 646 new cases have been reported out of which 509 are from Chennai. There are now 17,728 patients in the state and 11,640 in the capital city. 9 persons have lost their lives in the past twenty-four hours taking the death toll to 127.

611 people have been discharged today raising the total number of recoveries to 9342 and there are 8256 current active cases in the state. 10,289 tests have been conducted today out of the total of 431,739 done till date. Coimbatore, Nagapattinam, Namakkal, Tiruppur and The Nilgiris have remained in the green for the past one week or so.

54 people who came to Tamil Nadu from different states and foreign countries have tested positive for Covid 19 today. This includes: Maharashtra- 35 Gujarat- 6 Dubai- 5 Telangana- 3 Delhi and Uttar Pradesh- 2 each and Kerala- 1.

Chennai has been reporting in excess of five hundred new patients everyday for almost ten days now and there is talk on social media that community spread of the disease has started in the city and spreading to other parts of TN.
