It is already known that Shilpa Shetty's husband Raj Kundra was arrested on July 19 in the alleged creation and publishing of pornographic films on mobile applications case. The police said that 11 people were arrested on this case and Raj is described as the "key conspirator".
The court rejected his first bail plea on July 23. Kundra has been booked under sections 420 (cheating), 34 (common intention), 292, and 293 (related to obscene and indecent advertisements and displays) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) besides relevant sections of the IT Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
Raj is currently lodged in Arthur Road Jail in central Mumbai under judicial custody. The latest news is that the businessman was granted bail by a Mumbai court on a surety of ₹ 50 thousand, after almost two months in jail. A day after a metropolitan magistrate’s court granted bail, the Bollywood star's husband walked out of jail on September 21.
Co-accused Ryan Thorpe, the IT head of one of Raj Kundra's firms, has also been granted bail by the court. In the plea, filed through his lawyer Prashant Patil on Saturday, Kundra had submitted that he was being made a “scapegoat” without any conclusive evidence.
The plea also read that the cops have not been able to show any evidence establishing his connection with mobile apps Hotshots and Bollyfame in which the adult films were uploaded. On the other hand, the prosecution opposed the plea, arguing that bail could lead to evidence tampering and influencing witnesses.
