This day, last year heard a bang in Kollywood and saw a boom in box office, with Ilayathalapathy starrer ‘Thuppakki’. Coming around as a story specially crafted for Vijay himself, ‘Thupakki’ set, broke and created records in all regards. It was the first time in Kollywood that a film, not starring Superstar Rajinikanth, made a cool profit of 100 crores at the box office.
In fact, the film still holds the record of being at the third position at the box office, among Tamil movies of all times. Casting Vijay as Jagadeesh, a brave DIA specialist, the film even surpassed collection records set by Endhiran in Kerala. With regard to global sales, ‘Thupakki’ fares fourth, next only to ‘Enthiran’, ‘Sivaji’ and ‘Dasavatharam’. As the director and actor set out to create magic once again, here’s wishing a many happy returns to the ‘Thupakki’ team and we at Indiaglitz believe that their next venture will be equally enthralling as the 2012 blockbuster.
