We broke the news earlier to you that the much loved Chiyaan Vikram is admitted to the Kauvery Hospital in Alwarpet Chennai after sudden illness.  Some sections of the media falsely reported that he had an heart attack while sources close to the star actor suggested it was a bout of heavy fever.

Suryanarayanan the manager of Chiyaan Vikram and his son Dhruv Vikram has given clarity on Twitter.  He wrote "Dear fans and wellwishers, Chiyaan Vikram had mild chest discomfort and is being treated for the same. He DID NOT have a heart attack as reports falsely claim. We are pained to hear rumours to this effect.  That being said, we request you to give him and the family the the privacy they need at this time. Our dear Chiyaan is fine now.   He is likely to be discharged from hospital in a day.  We hope this statement provides clarity and trust that the false rumours will be put to rest."

Vikram was expected to attend the grand teaser launch event of Mani Ratnam's  'Ponniyin Selvan' today evening at 6pm.  It is now unlikely as per Suryanarayanan's tweet.  Sources say that On Monday the 11th of July he will attend the audio launch of his other film 'Cobra' directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu for which A.R. Rahman is scoring the music.
