Mani Ratnam’s films are not immune to controversies. Right from the days of ‘Roja’ and ‘Bombay’, we have seen him becoming a target of different kinds of entities.
Latest, ‘Chekka Chivvantha Vaanam’ (‘Nawab’ in Telugu) has attracted the anger of a violent element. An anonymous caller has called up Mani Ratnam’s office on Tuesday morning. His demand? An “offensive” dialogue from the gangster-family drama should be removed. Or else, the unknown caller will “bomb” the office of the director.
It seems Mani has already informed the police about the incident. An official statement from his office is awaited later today.
Meanwhile, the film is doing great in Tamil. It’s expected to rake in Rs. 50 Cr in its lifetime run. The multi-starrer is a hit in the overseas territory, too.
