On Sunday night, bomb threats were sent via email to the residences of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and actors Ajith Kumar, Arvind Swamy, and Khushbu Sundar. Similar threats were also received on the phone numbers of director A.R. Murugadoss, actors Gangai Amaran and Livingston, and international chess grandmaster R. Praggnanandhaa. The threat additionally claimed that bombs had been planted at 11 locations, including the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) office.
Since the threatening emails were sent to the office of the Tamil Nadu Director General of Police, a high alert was immediately declared. Bomb detection experts and sniffer dogs conducted thorough searches at all the mentioned locations. After approximately three hours of intensive checking, it was confirmed that no explosives were found anywhere. The police have officially declared the incident a hoax.

This appears to be a continuation of recent bomb threats received by Tamil film celebrities such as Rajinikanth, Dhanush, Vijay, Trisha, and Nayanthara. The Cyber Crime Wing of the Tamil Nadu Police has launched an investigation to trace the sender of the threats. Authorities have urged the public to refrain from spreading rumours and to immediately report any suspicious information to the police.
The incident has raised serious concerns about the safety and security of public figures. The police have stepped up additional surveillance and security measures.
