A Vijayawada court has on Wednesday directed the police to file a case against director Ram Gopal Varma and producer Dasari Kiran for "distorting the truth" in 'Vangaveeti', the 2016 biopic.
Vangaveeti Radha Krishna had moved the court, saying that the film mendaciously presents half-truths with respect to the happenings in Vijayawada in relation to the Vangaveeti family.
The biopic, which dramatizes the facitonal fights in the town, tells the story of the rise of the Vangaveetis and their rivalry with the Devinenis, another powerful family from the same town. 'Vangaveeti' faced objections from the Vangaveeti family from the beginning. RGV was asked by the political family to purge out certain portions. Much as they protested and even threatened to take the legal recourse, the director was stubborn not to change a single scene.
