Karnam Malleswari, the former weightlifting champion, will now have a biopic on her. As the first Indian woman to win a medal at the Olympics, she is also a recipient of the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna as well as Padma Shri.
Her story will now be told by ‘Raju Gaadu’ director Sanjana Reddy through a multi-lingual.
The untitled film will be made in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi. It will be officially launched on March 8 to mark International Women’s Day.
To be bankrolled by Kona Venkat and MVV Satyanarayana in association with a Bollywood production house, the biopic is likely to release late this year or early next year.
