Sudha Chandran has shared the sad news that her father K.D. Chandran passed away today in a Mumbai private hospital where he was under treatment from May 12th for dementia. He was 86 and suffered a heart attack earlier today.
Chandran who was of Tamil origin from Tiruchirapalli settled in Mumbai where Sudha was also born and brought up. He has acted in several Hindi films including the superhits ‘Koi Mil Gaya’, ‘Tere Mere Sapne’, ‘China Gate’, ‘Junoon Pukar’,’Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke’ , ‘Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai’ and ‘Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon”.
Chandran also instrumental in Sudha Chandran gaining confidence after losing a leg in an accident in 1980 and then getting back to classical dancing with an artificial limb. Her life story was made as the movie ‘Mayuri’ which was a pan Indian hit when released in 1984. She is now acting in the long-running serial ‘Deivam Thandha Veedu’ and also as a judge of many Hindi dance shows.
