Malayalam cinema's evergreen actress Manju Warrier recently made her Tamil debut in the blockbuster hit 'Asuran' opposite Dhanush and received critical acclaim for her portrayal of an underprivileged housewife. In October she had lodged a police complaint against Malayalam director Shrikumar Menon alleging that he was threatening and defaming her using abusive language and produced digital evidence for the same.
The Thrissur police arrested Shrikumar on Thursday and after questioning him for an hour released him on bail in connection with the case. The director has stated to the press that he has explained his side and is ready to cooperate with the authorities. Shrikumar directed Manju Warrier and Mohan Lal in the box office dud 'Odiyan' and blamed the lead actress for not cooperating during the shooting for the failure.
When Manju shot back at him he had then posted on social media that at a time when the actress was without work and had only rupees thousand five hundred he had helped her by giving her a cheque of twenty five lakhs to revive her career through advertisement films and made several with her.
