Actress Rekha had a dream debut in Bharathirja's 'Kadalora Kavithaigal' which also was the first film for Sathyaraj as hero and her very next was 'Punnagai Mannan' directed by K. Balachander opposite Kamal Haasan. Ever since then Rekha has starred as the heroine to all the leading heroes of the time including Sivaji Ganesan, Sivakumar, Vijayakanth, Prabhu, Karthick, Mohan, Arjun, Ramarajan and later on as character artiste with Rajinikanth, Ajith, Vijay, Vikram, Simbu and Dhanush.

Rekha who was recently seen as Yogi Babu's mother in 'Dharma Prabhu' has revealed in a recent interview that she was very close to her father but since he did not like her choosing acting as a profession did not see even one of her films. She shared that her father passed away and is buried in a cemetery in Kilpauk where she has raised a tomb for him and that she has also reserved the very next grave plot for herself as her resting place after death. It is really touching to know that Rekha loves her father so much even though he did not approve of the profession that made her famous.
