The 235-page Hema Committee Report, which detailed instances of sexual harassment faced by women in the Malayalam film industry, has sent shockwaves throughout the cinema world. The report has brought to light allegations against several prominent actors and directors. Today, Tamil actor and Nadigar Sangam General Secretary Vishal addressed these issues in a candid interview.
Speaking on his birthday, Vishal announced, "The Nadigar Sangam will form a committee within the next ten days. Preparations are already underway, and we will make an official announcement soon. It is our responsibility to ensure that the association is not just for the men in the industry but also women, so they know there is support available to them."
When asked if similar issues occur in the Tamil film industry, Vishal acknowledged, "Yes, there are certainly some individuals who have no respect for women and make inappropriate demands. Women need to be vigilant, verify the legitimacy of production companies, and check all these details before signing on. They should be fearless and willing to stand up to such men."
Addressing questions about allegations against big stars, Vishal was firm in his stance: "If someone is guilty of wrongdoing, they certainly deserve to be jailed. How can they live comfortably after ruining a womanâs life? They must face the consequences of their actions."
