It was probably the first and last time that Megastar promoted his BO rival Balakrishna's film. The film was 'Aditya 369'. On this day in 1991, this sci-fi was released and went on to become a big hit. Directed by Singeetam Srinivasa Rao, this one starred Balayya in two roles - Krishna Kumar, a modern-day guy, and Sri Krishna Devaraya, the legendary Vijayanagar King of the 16th Century.

So, when and why did Chiru promote this film of Balayya? It was when the Megastar, then the reigning star of Tollywood, found the film so interesting that he promoted it by featuring himself in a trailer meant for the DD channel. In the trailer, in whose design he got engaged voluntarily out of sheer interest, Chiru advertised about 'Aditya 369' by making an address to the audience in general, and children in particular.

On this 25th anniversary of 'Aditya 369', it's amusing to remember this unique development in the hero-oriented Tollywood.
