Actor-turned-politician and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s wife, Sangeetha Vijay, has reportedly withdrawn the divorce petition she had filed, bringing a significant development to the much-discussed marital dispute.
According to reports, the development came during proceedings before the Chengalpattu Family Welfare Court, where the case had been under consideration following reports of differences between the couple.
Sangeetha had earlier approached the family court seeking the dissolution of her marriage with Vijay. The case subsequently went through multiple hearings, with the court directing both Vijay and Sangeetha to appear and present their respective sides.
In the latest development, Sangeetha has officially withdrawn her divorce petition, effectively bringing the legal proceedings to a close for now. However, the reasons behind her decision to withdraw the plea have not been made public.
Vijay and Sangeetha tied the knot in 1999 and are parents to two children. While Vijay has transitioned from being one of Tamil cinema’s biggest stars to serving as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, he recently bid farewell to his acting career with Jana Nayagan, his final film as a lead actor, which was released in theatres last month.
The withdrawal of the divorce petition marks a new chapter in the couple’s personal lives, though neither Vijay nor Sangeetha has issued an official statement on the matter.
