Vijay Deverakonda Keeps His Promise; Scholarships Awarded to 180 Students

Actor Vijay Deverakonda has taken a meaningful step toward supporting education in his hometown by fulfilling a promise he made during his recent visit to Thummanpet village in Nagarkurnool district. Along with his wife Rashmika Mandanna, Vijay had announced scholarships for meritorious students studying in government schools across the Achampet Division.

Honoring that commitment, scholarships were awarded today to 180 economically disadvantaged students who secured first and second ranks in Classes 9 and 10 across 45 government schools in the division. The event was attended by Rashmika Mandanna, Vijay’s mother Madhavi, Achampet MLA Vamsi Krishna, District Educational Officer Ramesh, education department officials, local leaders, teachers, parents, and students.

Speaking at the event, MLA Vamsi Krishna praised Vijay for staying connected to his roots despite achieving tremendous success in the film industry. He lauded The Deverakonda Foundation for supporting students from economically weaker sections and appreciated Vijay’s decision to continue the scholarship initiative every year.

Rashmika Mandanna said the couple wanted their first educational initiative to begin in Achampet and Thummanpet, the native place of Vijay’s family. Encouraging students to keep learning and striving for success, she emphasized the importance of respecting parents and teachers while remaining determined through both victories and setbacks.

Vijay’s mother Madhavi highlighted the challenges many families face in funding education and urged students to value their parents’ sacrifices. She encouraged them to follow the five principles of life—Duty, Discipline, Devotion, Dedication, and Determination to achieve their goals.

Addressing the students, Vijay Deverakonda congratulated all scholarship recipients and stressed that dedication, discipline, and consistent effort matter far more than marks alone. He revealed that neither he nor Rashmika were rank holders during their school days, but hard work and focus helped them achieve success in their respective careers.

Vijay also praised the teachers of Nagarkurnool district after learning that the district secured second place in Telangana in recent academic results. He credited both teachers and parents for shaping the future of children and recalled how the values instilled by his parents and his school environment played a major role in his own journey.

The actor shared his larger vision for the initiative, stating that the scholarship program would first expand across all government schools in Nagarkurnool district before eventually supporting deserving students throughout Telangana.

“Our dream is to become a meaningful part of students’ educational journeys and encourage them to aim higher,” Vijay said, while urging officials to ensure that the scholarships reach only genuinely deserving students.

With this initiative, Vijay Deverakonda and The Deverakonda Foundation have not only fulfilled a promise but also laid the foundation for a long-term educational support program aimed at empowering young achievers from underprivileged backgrounds.
