Ahead of the release of ‘Maa Inti Bangaram’, Samantha candidly discusses performing action sequences without body doubles, the rigorous preparation for the film, and her evolving approach to challenging roles. Joined by director Nandini Reddy, she shares insights into the film’s action-packed narrative, reflects on how failures have shaped her career, and reveals personal favorites from her journey in cinema. From memorable characters and cherished songs to her first remuneration and life beyond the screen, the interview offers fans an intimate look at one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated stars.
Samantha garu, whenever we watch your films, we come across many cute and memorable moments. Which scene from your career would you call the cutest?
That’s a difficult question because there are so many. Maybe a scene from Oh! Baby the dining table scene where I see my son and suddenly get up saying, “You’ve come?” (laughs). I think that’s a pretty cute moment.
Since the teaser and trailer of Maa Inti Bangaram were released, fans have been expecting a lot of action from you. We heard that you performed many stunts without a body double and even got hit by dummy bullets during the climax. What was that experience like?
I’ve become used to it. Since The Family Man with Raj & DK, I’ve worked a lot with long takes and single-shot action sequences. Most actors in their projects perform their own action because there are no cuts. It’s not that I decided never to use a stunt double I’ve simply gotten used to doing my own action scenes.

Nandini Reddy garu, how did you prepare Samantha for such an action-packed role, especially considering the physical demands of the character?
Honestly, there wasn’t much preparation needed from my side. Samantha is already extremely fit and disciplined with her workouts. We focused on safety and took all necessary precautions during the action sequences. Our action director was very careful, and as he gained confidence in Samantha’s abilities, he gradually increased the complexity of the stunts.
Samantha, how do you deal with hits and flops? Do failures affect you more than successes?
Definitely. When a film doesn’t perform well, I take time to analyze my decisions, accept feedback, and understand where I could improve. Nobody has a 100% success rate. I actually pay more attention to my failures because they help me grow and make better choices in the future.
What’s your nickname at home?
Everyone calls me Sam. Even at home, it’s mostly Sam. There aren’t any secret nicknames.
What’s your favorite holiday destination?
I love traveling, so I don’t really have one favorite destination. I enjoy exploring new places.
What’s your all-time favorite movie?
It’s impossible to pick just one, but I really love The Sound of Music.
If you had to choose your top three characters from your career, which ones would they be?
That’s easier than choosing my top three films. I’d definitely say Swarna from Oh! Baby, and there are several others that are very close to my heart. It’s difficult to narrow it down.
Do you have a favorite food spot or comfort food?
I love Chennai breakfast spots. Dishes like Mysore Bonda and traditional South Indian breakfast items are my favorites.
What was your first remuneration, and what did you do with it?
I think it was around ₹2 lakh, though I don’t remember exactly. I bought a ring for my mother with that money.

Do you remember the first day you faced a camera?
No, I don’t remember the exact date.
Which song from your films do you still listen to?
I don’t usually listen to my own songs now, but for a long time I used to listen to the songs from Ye Maaya Chesave.
What’s your favorite genre as an actor?
Comedy and action.
Do you follow the memes and viral content about yourself on social media?
(laughs) Not always. There are many viral things about me that I never even get to see.
Finally, any message for fans waiting for Maa Inti Bangaram?
Thank you for all the love and support. I hope everyone enjoys the film, and I’m excited for audiences to watch it.
