A group of transgenders was thrashed outside a police station in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut after a clash erupted between two groups of the community.
According to the police, the fight between the two groups of transgenders broke out at a different location in Meerut, leading the local residents to reach out to the police, who arrived at the spot and managed to resolve their differences eventually by convincing the rival group to file a complaint at the station. However, another clash broke out between the groups right outside the police station, forcing the police to launch a lathi charge against them. The video shows the policemen brutally assaulting the transgenders while they run for cover.
“Things have come to the fore, transgenders misbehaved, but force was used to control them. If force used was more than required, probe to be conducted,” the Special Superintendent of Police reportedly said.
