There are theatrical trailers. Then there are trailers that are theatrical. ‘Valmiki’ falls in the second category.
Trust Harish Shankar to make a macabre anti-hero out of an actor like Varun Tej, who is known for going on space missions and getting gamed by a future wife! Watch the Mega hero dish out punchlines and philosophize in fits and starts. Catch him reel off some cuss words here and there. Sporting unkempt hair, he comes off as a villain who has fashioned himself after several onscreen baddies.
In comes Atharvaa Murali, the Tamil actor, who plays a filmmaker itching to make a film on a gangster in action. Throw in actors as different as Brahmaji (are he and others doing something akin to the Antyaakshari scene from ‘Gabbar Singh’?) and Pooja Hegde (said to be in a short role), you have an interesting combination.
There is action, comedy and two rom-com tracks involving the two male actors.
With music by Mickey J Meyer and cinematograpy by Ayananka Bose, ‘Valmiki’ has editing by Chota K Prasad.
The remake of the Tamil film ‘Jigarthanda’ will hit the screens on September 20.
