Vairamuthu’s Mother Passes Away on Eve of Mother’s Day; Film Industry Mourns Her Loss

As the world celebrates Mother’s Day today with heartfelt tributes and nostalgic photos, tragedy struck renowned Tamil poet and lyricist Vairamuthu, who lost his beloved mother just a day before the occasion.

Angammal, mother of Kaviperarasu Vairamuthu, had been receiving medical treatment for age-related health issues and passed away on Saturday evening.

Sharing the heartbreaking news on social media, Vairamuthu wrote, “With deep sorrow, I inform you that my mother, Mrs. Angammal, who gave birth to me, passed away on Saturday evening. Her final rites will be held in Vadugapatti, Theni district, on Sunday evening.”

As news of her demise spread, members of the film fraternity and well-wishers have been extending their condolences and support to Vairamuthu and his family during this difficult time. The timing of the loss—on the eve of a day meant to honor mothers—has made the farewell all the more poignant.
