Vairamuthu's novel 'Kallikattu Ithikasam' coming to the big screens with this mass hero?

We all know that Vairmuthu is a legendary lyricist and author in the Tamil space. He published the renowned novel, 'Kallikattu Ithikasam'. It went on to win the Sahitya Akademi Award for Best Literary Work in 2003 and has been translated into 22 languages. The novel sold over lakh copies.
Kallikkattu Ithikasam depicts the story of the refugees in independent India. When the Vaigai dam was constructed in Madurai District in the 1950s, 14 villages were vacated for creating the water catchment area and the people lost their land under the water. Vairamuthu was born to one such family and had lived through this misery in his childhood.
Now, the latest reports suggest that Kallikattu Ithikasam is likely to be adapted into a live-action film. Director Vikram Sugumaran of 'Madhayaanai Kootam' & 'Raavana Kottam' fame is likely to helm the adaptation. The makers are thinking of casting Chiyaan Vikram in the lead role for the movie and they will meet him post the release of 'PS-2'. An official confirmation is awaited in this regard.
