“Navarasa Raya” Dr. Naresh Vijaya Krishna, Anupama Parameswaran, Tharun Bhascker, and Akhil Uddemari, known for Raju Weds Rambai, play the lead roles in the upcoming Telugu film Crazy Kalyanam. Produced by Boosam Jagan Mohan Reddy under the Arrow Cinemas banner as Production No. 2, the film is directed by Badhrappa Gajula. Scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 16, coinciding with the Dasara festive season, the film promises a blend of comedy, emotion, and relatable family moments.
As part of the film’s promotions, heroine Anupama Parameswaran spoke about the movie’s unique storyline, her character Keerthi, her experience working with the cast, and her personal views on marriage.
‘Everything About the Film Felt Crazy’
Anupama revealed that the team initially considered a different working title for the film. However, as the project progressed, everything about the filmmaking process felt so crazy that director Badhrappa Gajula came up with the title Crazy Kalyanam. She described the film as a story filled with fun and emotion, adding that the involvement of actors such as Naresh, Akhil, and Tharun Bhascker made the project even more exciting.
She also praised producer Jagan Mohan Reddy for his passion and commitment, saying that his support played a significant role in bringing the film to audiences. Anupama added that she has been actively participating in the promotions because she genuinely feels happy about the project.
Anupama Parameswaran Shares Her Views on Marriage
Speaking about the marriage angle in the film, Anupama said audiences would have to watch Crazy Kalyanam to discover whether her character Keerthi eventually gets married. She clarified that, unlike the situation portrayed in the film, her family does not put any pressure on her regarding marriage. Her parents have always told her to get married whenever she feels ready.
Sharing an interesting personal thought, the actress said that she would like to have a baby before getting married.
Anupama also spoke about the cultural differences between weddings in Kerala and Telangana. She explained that weddings in Kerala traditionally feature vegetarian food and that her experience with Telangana weddings introduced her to new customs and traditions. She added that ceremonies such as haldi and mehendi, which were not traditionally part of every Kerala wedding, are now becoming increasingly popular.
‘Marriage Should Not Turn a Woman Into a Domestic Worker’
One of the most notable aspects of Anupama’s interview was her perspective on marriage and relationships. According to the actress, marriage should be about two people living happily together rather than placing all the household responsibilities on a woman.
She said this is exactly what her character Keerthi believes in, and it also reflects her own personal opinion. The dialogue featured in the film’s trailer, “If I cook, you should wash the dishes,” highlights this idea of equality and shared responsibility in a relationship.
Anupama explained that the film’s characters are all dealing with their own struggles. While their situations may appear funny to the audience, the comedy emerges naturally from their circumstances and personalities. She believes this combination of humour and emotion makes the story relatable.

Anupama Praises Director Badhrappa Gajula and Tharun Bhascker
Anupama said she was impressed by director Badhrappa Gajula’s sincerity and conviction when he narrated the script. His narration included the entire story, including the character of Balaraju, played by Tharun Bhascker. The actress recalled laughing at certain moments and becoming emotional during others.
She particularly described Balaraju as a highly relatable character who resembles people audiences encounter in their everyday lives. According to her, the character has plenty of humour, and even the director and producer share some similarities with him.
The actress also explained that the central theme of marriage comes into focus soon after the characters are introduced, allowing audiences to connect with the narrative without much delay.
‘Akhil Brought Emotional Honesty to His Character’
Speaking about her co-star Akhil Uddemari, Anupama praised his acting abilities and emotional expression. She said his performance never feels artificial and that the spark in his eyes was important for bringing the character of Uday to life.
While Keerthi is portrayed as a strong and strict personality, Uday supports her and balances her nature. Anupama noted that this dynamic forms a key part of the film’s central conflict. She believes Akhil successfully conveyed the emotional honesty required for the role.
The actress also revealed that Crazy Kalyanam offered the cast an opportunity to exchange ideas and improve their performances collaboratively. She discussed scenes with the director, while Naresh, Akhil, Tharun, and the other cast members also contributed their thoughts during the filmmaking process.
Speaking in the Telangana Dialect
Anupama revealed that she speaks in the Telangana dialect in Crazy Kalyanam. Although she did not attend special workshops to learn it, she carefully observed the director’s speech and delivery to bring authenticity to her dialogues.
She also expressed admiration for senior actor Naresh, describing his passion for acting as a source of inspiration. Working alongside an experienced performer like him was a valuable experience, she said.
Anupama added that her parents had already watched the film and appreciated it. Despite not knowing Telugu, they connected with the emotions portrayed on screen, which gave her confidence that the story would resonate with audiences from different backgrounds.
‘I Want Audiences to Remember My Characters’
Talking about her career choices, Anupama said she always strives to experiment with different roles rather than repeatedly playing similar characters. She wants audiences to remember a film through the character she portrayed instead of feeling that all her performances are alike.
She described Keerthi in Crazy Kalyanam as another distinctive role that she hopes will remain memorable to viewers. The actress also stressed that money alone does not motivate her to accept a project. Her passion for exploring new characters and trying something different is what drives her decisions.
Anupama further revealed that she is currently working on several projects in Tamil and Malayalam, each offering a different experience.
A Festive Entertainer With Fun and Emotion
With a relatable story, entertaining characters, and a strong message about equality in marriage, Crazy Kalyanam aims to offer audiences a refreshing cinematic experience this festive season. Anupama Parameswaran’s comments suggest that the film combines humour with emotional moments drawn from everyday life.
Featuring Dr. Naresh Vijaya Krishna, Anupama Parameswaran, Tharun Bhascker, and Akhil Uddemari in the lead roles, Crazy Kalyanam is set for a worldwide theatrical release on October 16. The team is confident that the film’s mix of comedy, family emotions, and contemporary relationship themes will strike a chord with audiences.
