US mid-term elections: Trump out, DeSantis in?

Come 2024, who is going to be the Republican party's presidential candidate in the US elections? Will it be Donald Trump or not? It looks like Trump is losing his case after the mid-term election results today. And many American commentators are favouring the Floria Governor Ron DeSantis to lead the party.
DeSantis has won the Florida Governor elections big. "An election where Oz and Walker narrowly lose and where DeSantis romps by 20 points is the worst possible night for Trump and the best possible night for DeSantis," a commentator tweeted soon after the results.
Commentator Caleb Hull opined that the Republican party needs an overhaul. "Trump pushed a bunch of candidates that suck and everyone knew it but we have no choice but to go along. We had everything on our side and missed the mark. DeSantis is the new head of the party, not a 76-year-old man," he opined.
"The biggest takeaway tonight is how good DeSantis did in Florida. He has set the standard on how to pull independents and flip Democrats. Not to mention all the smaller races where Conservatives won big in Florida too," wrote another political observer.
In his victory speech, DeSantis said that Florida embraced freedom during his term. "We have maintained law and order. We have protected the rights of parents. We have respected our taxpayers, and we reject woke ideology...We will never ever surrender to the woke mob. Florida is where woke goes to die," he thundered.
