Popular actress Jayalakshmi made her acting debut in the film 'Pirivom Santhipom' directed by Karu Pazhaniappan and starring Cheran and Sneha, She later acted in several films including 'Mayandi Kudumbathar', 'Alai Pesi', 'Vettaikaaran', 'Goripalayam'. 'Muthukku Muthaaga', 'Appa' and 'Visaranai'.

Jayalakshmi was also well appreciated for her meaty role in Arun Vijay's hit film 'Kuttram 23' directed by Arivazhagan. She has also featured in serials such as 'Keladi Kanmani', 'Tamil Kadavul Murugan', 'Kalyana Parisu', 'Mullum Malarum' and 'Poove Unakkaga'.

A few months back the actress joined the BJP in the present of TN leader Pon Radhakrishnan and also campaigned for the party in the 2021 Assembly Elections.

A woman named Geetha has lodge a complaint against Jayalakshmi in the Padi police station that she is harrasing her. According to the petition the actress had helped her get a loan from a bank and along with the necessary documents she had to sign a blank paper.

Geetha has alleged that even after paying up the entire loan amount Jayalakshmi is sending two men Charles and Alexander to her house at night and demanding that she owes money and forcing her to pay. She has requested the police to take action against the actress and her friends who are said to be advocates.
